Use PNG for sharp text
PNG keeps hard edges on diagrams and text-heavy pages.
Use JPEG for photo pages
JPEG often produces smaller files for photographic or continuous-tone content.
Skip TIFF and BMP
Even if the UI lists them, the server rejects TIFF and BMP—choose PNG, JPEG, GIF, or WebP instead.

What this tool does
PDF to Image renders PDF pages into standalone image files in a format and color mode you choose.
Use it for slides, thumbnails, web assets, or sharing a page when a full PDF is not needed.
How to use
Upload one PDF
Select or drag a .pdf file into the tool.
Choose format and color mode
Pick PNG, JPEG, GIF, or WebP, plus color, greyscale, or black and white.
Convert and download
Run conversion and download the rendered images.
Supported inputs and output
Input: one .pdf file, an imageFormat (png | jpeg/jpg | gif | webp), and a color type (color | greyscale | blackwhite).
Output: rendered page image(s). Approximate upload limit is about 100 MB.
Format notes
PNG
Strong for text, diagrams, and screenshots that need sharp edges.
JPEG / JPG
Useful for photo-like pages when smaller files matter.
GIF / WebP
Supported by the server for web-oriented or alternate workflows.
TIFF / BMP
Not accepted—server validation fails. Do not rely on these options.
Processing and privacy
Your PDF is posted over HTTPS to /api/converter/pdf-to-image and processed on Toolomix servers via Stirling-PDF PDF-to-image.
Toolomix does not publish a verified universal retention clock for every conversion. See the Privacy Policy for how uploads and logs are handled.
Limitations
Known limits
- Only png, jpeg/jpg, gif, and webp pass server validation
- TIFF and BMP fail even if listed in the UI
- No password / encrypted-PDF unlock field
- No OCR
- Defaults: dpi=300, all pages, single packaging mode
- Uploads near or above ~100 MB may be rejected
Troubleshooting
If conversion fails with a format error, switch to PNG, JPEG, GIF, or WebP—TIFF/BMP are rejected by the server.
If the request fails otherwise, confirm the PDF opens locally, remove encryption, and keep the upload under ~100 MB.
PDF to Image FAQ
Which image formats actually work?
The server accepts imageFormat values png, jpeg/jpg, gif, and webp only. TIFF and BMP fail server validation even if the UI shows them.
What color modes are available?
Color, greyscale, and blackwhite (shown as Black and White in the UI).
What defaults does the converter use?
Unless overridden, requests use dpi=300, pageNumbers=all, and singleOrMultiple=single.
Can I unlock a password-protected PDF?
No. There is no password field. Remove encryption before uploading.
Does this run OCR?
No. Pages are rendered as images; the tool does not extract or recognize text.
Where is the PDF processed?
The file is posted to /api/converter/pdf-to-image and rendered via Stirling-PDF convert/pdf/img on Toolomix servers.
Is there a size limit?
Uploads are limited to about 100 MB. Larger PDFs may be rejected.
