Drag and drop your PDF file here or click to browse
Supported: .pdf files onlySplitting Tips
Page spec is required
The split request will not start until you enter a page specification in the page range field.
Mix ranges and single pages
Combine hyphen ranges and commas, for example 1-3,5,7-9, in one request.
Check page numbers first
Open the source PDF and confirm which pages exist before submitting ranges.
Flexible page syntax
Request individual pages and ranges together using commas and hyphens.
ZIP download
Receive the split output as one ZIP archive for a single download.
Single-file upload
Process one PDF at a time through the Toolomix converter API.
What this tool does
Split PDF extracts the pages you name from one uploaded PDF and returns those parts as a ZIP archive.
Use it when you need a chapter, appendix, or scattered pages without sharing the full document.
How to use
Upload one PDF
Choose or drag a single .pdf file into the upload area.
Enter the page specification
Type required ranges such as 1-3,5,7-9, then start the split.
Download the ZIP
When processing finishes, download the ZIP that contains the split files.
Supported inputs and output
Input: one .pdf file plus a required pageSpec string (for example 1-3,5,7-9). Output: a ZIP archive of the split PDF parts.
Approximate upload limit from server middleware is about 100 MB. Only one file is accepted per request.
Processing and privacy
Your PDF is posted to /api/converter/pdf-split and processed on Toolomix servers through Stirling-PDF’s /api/v1/convert/pdf/split path.
Toolomix does not publish a verified universal retention clock for every conversion. See the Privacy Policy for how uploads and logs are handled.
Limitations
Known limits
- Single PDF upload only—no batch of multiple files
- pageSpec is required; empty input is rejected
- No password / encrypted-PDF unlock field
- No OCR for scanned pages
- Uploads near or above ~100 MB may be rejected by middleware
- Corrupted or invalid PDFs may fail to split
Worked example
Example: a 12-page PDF where you only need pages 1–3 and page 10. Enter a pageSpec such as 1-3,10, upload the PDF, and download the ZIP of extracted page files.
Invalid ranges (for example page 99 on a 12-page file) are rejected—check the page count locally before splitting.
Troubleshooting
If the split fails, confirm the file opens locally as a PDF, remove encryption, enter a valid pageSpec, and keep the upload under the approximate 100 MB limit.
Double-check that every page number exists in the document before retrying.
PDF Split FAQ
How do I write the page specification?
Use hyphens for ranges and commas between selections—for example 1-3,5,7-9. The pageSpec field is required; leaving it empty blocks the request.
Why do I get a ZIP instead of one PDF?
The Stirling-PDF split endpoint returns multiple extracted parts. Toolomix packages them into a ZIP so you can download everything in one file.
Can I upload several PDFs at once?
No. This tool accepts a single PDF per request.
Does split work on password-protected PDFs?
No. There is no password field. Unlock or remove encryption before uploading.
Does this tool use OCR?
No. It splits page content as stored in the PDF; it does not recognize text from scanned images.
Where is my PDF processed?
The file is uploaded over HTTPS to Toolomix and processed via Stirling-PDF’s PDF split API, then returned as a ZIP download.
What if a page number is outside the document?
Page numbers must exist in the uploaded PDF. Invalid or out-of-range values can cause the split to fail—verify the page count first.
