Supported: .pdf files only

Conversion Tips

Prefer text-based PDFs

Files exported from Word, Docs, or similar tools convert more usefully than image-only scans.

Expect layout cleanup

Multi-column pages, dense tables, and overlapping boxes often need manual fixes in Word.

Keep the original PDF

Save the source so you can re-convert after adjusting the file or reviewing fidelity.

Single PDF to DOCX

One upload produces one .docx download via Stirling-PDF PDF-to-Word.

Structure-aware rebuild

Paragraphs, headings, tables, and images are mapped where the PDF structure allows.

No OCR step

The tool does not recognize text from scanned images; it converts existing PDF content.

What this tool does

PDF to Word rebuilds a single PDF as an editable DOCX so you can revise text without recreating the document from scratch.

Use it when you received a PDF but need a Word draft for edits, comments, or reuse—knowing that layout may not be pixel-identical.

How to use

Upload one PDF

Select or drag a .pdf file into the upload area.

Start conversion

Click Convert to Word and wait for server-side processing.

Download the DOCX

Save the resulting Word file and review layout in your editor.

Supported inputs and output

Input: one .pdf file. Output: one .docx (Word) document.

Approximate upload limit is about 100 MB per request.

Processing and privacy

Your PDF is posted over HTTPS to /api/converter/pdf-to-docx and processed on Toolomix servers via Stirling-PDF PDF-to-Word.

Toolomix does not publish a verified universal retention clock for every conversion. See the Privacy Policy for how uploads and logs are handled.

Limitations

Known limits

  • Single PDF per request—no batch conversion
  • No OCR; scanned image pages convert poorly
  • Layout fidelity depends on the source PDF
  • No password / encrypted-PDF unlock field
  • Uploads near or above ~100 MB may be rejected

Troubleshooting

If conversion fails, confirm the file opens as a PDF locally, remove encryption, and keep the upload under ~100 MB.

If the DOCX is empty or unreadable, the PDF may be scan-only or heavily graphical—try a text-based source instead.

PDF to Word FAQ

What endpoint converts my file?

The browser posts to /api/converter/pdf-to-docx. Toolomix processes the PDF through Stirling-PDF convert/pdf/word with outputFormat=docx.

Does this run OCR on scanned pages?

No. There is no OCR. Image-only scanned PDFs usually produce weak or unusable editable text.

Will formatting match the PDF exactly?

Not always. Fidelity depends on how the PDF was built. Simple digital documents fare better than complex or designed layouts.

Can I unlock a password-protected PDF here?

No. There is no password field. Remove encryption before uploading.

What file do I download?

A standard .docx file you can open in Microsoft Word or compatible editors.

Is there a size limit?

Uploads are limited to about 100 MB by server middleware. Larger files may be rejected.
