Supported: JPEG, PNG, WEBP (HEIC may be limited)EXIF metadata
Tips
Preview before stripping
Check camera and GPS fields so you know what will be removed.
Quality trade-off
Canvas re-encode removes EXIF but may slightly reduce JPEG quality compared to the original file.
HEIC limitations
iPhone HEIC photos may not load in every browser. Convert to JPEG first if upload fails.
Privacy sharing
Stripping GPS and device info helps when publishing photos online.
EXIF preview
Read camera make/model, capture date, GPS coordinates, and dimensions with exifr.
Metadata removal
Re-encode through canvas to produce a JPEG or PNG without embedded EXIF.
Local processing
Images are not uploaded to Toolomix for cleaning.
What this tool does
EXIF Cleaner lets you inspect photo metadata and download a version without EXIF tags.
It is aimed at privacy-conscious sharing—remove GPS and device details before posting images online.
How to use
Upload an image
Choose or drop a JPEG, PNG, or WEBP file.
Review metadata
Read camera, date, and GPS fields when exifr finds them.
Download clean copy
Click Remove EXIF and download the re-encoded file.
Processing and privacy
exifr reads metadata locally. Stripping uses canvas toBlob in your browser.
Files are not uploaded to Toolomix for EXIF cleaning.
Limitations
Known limits
- Canvas re-encode may slightly reduce JPEG quality
- HEIC and some RAW formats may not load in all browsers
- Output is JPEG or PNG only
- Does not guarantee removal of every non-EXIF embedded chunk
Frequently Asked Questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. EXIF reading and canvas re-encode run in your browser. The image file is not sent to Toolomix.
How is EXIF removed?
The image is drawn to an HTML canvas and exported as a new JPEG or PNG blob. The export typically omits original EXIF blocks.
Will image quality change?
JPEG re-encode may introduce slight compression loss. PNG is lossless but still re-drawn through canvas.
Does it work with HEIC?
HEIC support depends on your browser. Many desktop browsers cannot decode HEIC in canvas; convert to JPEG first if needed.
What metadata can I see?
When present, the tool shows camera make/model, capture date, GPS coordinates, orientation, and pixel dimensions.
Is this the same as professional metadata scrubbing?
Canvas export removes common EXIF but does not audit every embedded chunk. For high-risk workflows, use dedicated forensic tools.
