Limitations
Known limits
- Only .docx—legacy .doc is not accepted
- Complex Word layouts may differ from Word’s on-screen view
- This path does not use Syncfusion or LibreOffice
- No password unlock field
- Uploads near or above ~100 MB may be rejected
Troubleshooting
If conversion fails, confirm the file opens as DOCX locally, remove protection, simplify unusual fonts, and keep the upload under ~100 MB.
If spacing looks wrong, re-check page breaks and floating objects in Word, then convert again.
Word to PDF FAQ
How is the PDF created?
The browser posts to /api/converter/docx-to-pdf. Toolomix converts the file through Stirling-PDF /api/v1/convert/file/pdf. Syncfusion and LibreOffice are not used on this path.
Are older .doc files accepted?
No. Only .docx is supported. Open the file in Word (or a compatible app) and save as DOCX before uploading.
Will the PDF look identical to Word?
Simple documents usually look close. Complex layouts, floating objects, and unusual fonts may differ from Word’s on-screen view.
Can I convert password-protected Word files?
There is no password unlock field. Remove protection in Word, then upload the unlocked DOCX.
What is the upload size limit?
Server middleware typically allows about 100 MB per request. Larger files may fail.
Can I edit the PDF after conversion?
PDF is meant for stable sharing. For further edits, change the DOCX and convert again, or use a PDF-to-Word tool if you only have the PDF.
